The original Yankee Stadium, constructed in 1922/23, was the standard for all of America's coliseums. Every person who entered the beautiful, three-tiered building remembers his/her first visit. In a sense, the event often took second place to the experience of visiting the majesty of the Stadium. Between 1973-1976, Ross Lewis was given special permission by the City of New York to photograph the historic razing and rebirth of Yankee Stadium. He was the only photographer to record the complete two-and-a-half year photographic journey. The "D" train to the Bronx was Ross' vehicle to cherish the ever-present friendly ghosts which remained through a series of unique, emotional images of the beloved Stadium. The Yankee Stadium gallery is dedicated to everyone who entered the gates to this wonderful American treasure. This gallery began construction on August 18, 2014. (Note) During the coming months, many more photographs will be added to the gallery.
